Alex Tagliani hasn’t had much success in the IRL, but a good starting spot may be what he needs to get a surprising win in the 2010 Indianapolis 500.

Bet 2010 Indianapolis 500 Odds

Tagliani will start fifth on Sunday as he seeks his first win in his three years of competing in the IRL on a limited basis.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com currently list Tagliani at 20/1 to win the 2010 Indy 500. Helio Castroneves, who won the pole on Saturday, is the current favorite at 5/2 and Scott Dixon is 7/2 to win.

In one appearance in the Indy 500, Tagliani finished 11th after starting 33rd, which earned him Rookie of the Year honors. Despite racing in a handful of races in 2008, Tagliani is racing full-time for the first time in 2010. In 15 races in his career, Tagliani has finished in the top 5 just one time.

The 2010 Indianapolis 500 will start at 1:00PM ET on Sunday. For more information on the race, check out our 2010 Indy 500 Viewing Guide and for odds, see below.
