Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals is set to tip off Thursday night in L.A. as the Denver Nuggets take on the Los Angeles Lakers, who currently hold a 1-0 advantage in the best of seven series.
The Lakers took Game 1 by a 105-103 final, but they failed to cover the 6.5-point spread at home. Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM have made Los Angeles a 5.5-point favorite over Denver in Game 2.
The trends in this series all favor the Lakers. Los Angeles is 7-2 against the spread versus Denver over the last three seasons and 18-7 against the number versus the Nuggets since 1996. But will they cover in Game 2?
Denver is an amazing 11-0 against the spread in their last 11 games and have covered the number in 12 of their last 13 games. They’re also 5-0 against the spread as an underdog so far in the postseason, so bettors have to love getting 5.5 points for Thursday night.
We thought that the Nuggets would have to shake off the rust for a game or two entering this series, but they proved us wrong and covered the number. We won’t go against their outstanding 11-0 ATS number this postseason and gladly take the 5.5 points that oddsmakers are giving us for their game against the Lakers.
Our betting free pick for this matchup is the Nuggets +5.5.
