New York Yankees designated hitter Jorge Posada apologized Sunday, one day after feeling disrespected for being dropped to ninth in the batting order.
Apparently that was not enough as Yankees manager Joe Girardi has opted to sit the struggling Posada for the finale of their three-game home series tonight versus the Boston Red Sox at 8:10PM EST. The contest will air on ESPN.
Posada has struggled all season long as his six home runs have done little to offset a .165 batting average. While the former starting catcher is probably sincere in his apology, New York cannot afford a distraction right now as it is in the midst of a four-game losing streak to drop out of first in the AL East.
A loss tonight against the Red Sox and their ace Jon Lester would only add fuel to the fire.
