With their best hitter sidelined for over a month recovering from hip surgery, the New York Yankees stumbled to a 13-15 record to start the 2009 MLB Season. But with Alex Rodriguez back in the lineup, the Yankees earned a series win over the Baltimore Orioles and hope more good things are to come.
Amidst a huge steroid scandal, A-Rod missed the entire month of April and the first week of May while recovering from hip surgery that he had in the spring. But on his first at bat of the 2009 season, Rodriguez homered to lead the Yankees to a 4-0 victory over the Orioles on Friday night.
After a 12-5 setback in Game 2, New York once again beat Baltimore on Sunday to improve to 15-16 on the season. Their record is hardly something to brag about, but with Rodriguez back in the lineup, the Yankees could quickly start to turn their fortunes around.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM have established the Yankees’ odds to win the 2009 World Series at 5/1. Unless they suffer a brutal stretch, that price might never be better now that A-Rod is back.
