The Arizona Diamondbacks suffered an early season blow when they had to place starting pitcher Brandon Webb on the 15-day disabled list with a sore right shoulder.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global obviously don’t feel as though the D’Backs losing Webb is a big concern so early in the season because Arizona’s odds to win the 2009 World Series remain at 18/1.
Webb is such a huge part of the Diamondbacks’ rotation, which also features stud Dan Haren. And having Haren at their disposal is probably one of the reasons why oddsmakers feel as though Arizona will be fine without Webb, whose DL stint is actually retroactive to April 7.
The Diamondbacks have struggled out of the gate, compiling a 2-4 record through Sunday’s action. Arizona is expected to challenge the Los Angeles Dodgers atop a weak NL West Division.
