Looking to put an ugly 7-4 loss to the Lightning behind them, the Islanders will turn to Jean-Francois Berube tonight when they visit the Hurricanes at 7:00PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Islanders are -115 money line favorites to beat the Hurricanes, who are hardly underdogs at -105 to win. The over/under, meanwhile, is sitting at 5 goals for tonight’s game.
Bet Tonight’s Islanders vs. Hurricanes Game
Thomas Greiss got the start on Friday night in Tampa and allowed six goals on 41 shots in the Islanders’ 7-4 loss. He’ll take a backseat tonight to Berube, who played well Wednesday night in the team’s 3-1 win over the Senators. Berube stopped 22 of 23 shots and improved to 2-1-1. The 24-year-old now has a 2.19 GAA to go along with a .929 save percentage.
On the other side, Eddie Lack will start after making 42 of 44 saves to lift the Canes to a 3-2 win over the Blue Jackets on Thursday night. Despite being the best player on the ice that night, Lack has been consistently inconsistent this season for Carolina. He’s just 12-12-5 with a 2.66 goals against average and a .907 save percentage.

Both teams are struggling but I’ll take the better goaltender in tonight’s matchup. The Canes are just 1-5 in their last six games overall and 1-4 in their last five games versus Eastern Conference opponents. The Islanders haven’t win in six straight road games and are also 1-5 in their last six overall, but the road team has also won six of the last eight meetings between these two teams.
