Miami, FL (The Spread) – The Miami Dolphins have apparently decided to turn their focus away from Peyton Manning and have zeroed in on quarterback Matt Flynn.
Manning telephoned the Dolphins on Thursday to advise them he would sign elsewhere, and the team began courting free-agent Flynn, two people familiar with the negotiations said.
Both people confirmed the developments to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Dolphins haven’t commented publicly on their free-agent shopping.

Flynn, a backup last season with Green Bay, was scheduled to visit Miami by the weekend after concluding a visit with the Seattle Seahawks. While Manning remains the most coveted quarterback on the market, Flynn became attractive following his 480-yard, six-touchdown performance in a Week 17 win versus the Lions last season.
According to oddsmakers, the Dolphins are currently 18/1 to win the 2012 Super Bowl after opening as a 50/1 long shot. Their AFC Championship odds have also improved from 23/1 to 7/1 .
