Will Pepperdine hang with Saint Mary’s tonight when the two teams clash at 9:00PM ET in the West Coast Conference tournament?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Gaels are a 7.5-point favorite over the Waves after opening as a 7-point fave. As for the total, the number opened at 133 but has been bet down to 131.5.
Pepperdine has had some success at the betting window in previous meetings with Saint Mary’s, covering in five of its last seven games versus the Gaels. The Waves are also 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games versus a team with a winning record while the Gaels have failed to cover in four of their last 14 games after being one of the most profitable teams in college basketball for months.
The Waves swept the Gaels this season, beating Saint Mary’s 67-64 as an 8.5-point underdog on January 9 and then 69-63 as a 12.5-point dog on February 11. Senior forward Stacy Davis has posted five consecutive double-doubles and averaged 15 points and 9.5 rebounds in the two meetings with the Gales. If Davis plays well again tonight, Pepperdine shouldn’t have any issues covering the spread. This is a lot of points to lay in a conference title game.
