(The Spread) – Just over a month ago it didn’t even look like the Green Bay Packers would make the playoffs and now they’re the favorite to win the Super Bowl. Funny how quickly things can change.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, the Packers are 8/5 to win the 2011 Super Bowl in Dallas, Texas in two weeks. They became favorites almost overnight, thanks in large part to their dismantling of the Falcons last Saturday in Atlanta.
What’s interesting is that the Packers had to win their final two games just to qualify for the postseason. They crushed the Giants at home in Week 16 and then held off the Chicago Bears 10-3 in Week 17 to clinch the No. 6 seed in the NFC. Now they’ll be playing those same Bears for the third time this season when they two teams meet in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.
Speaking of the Bears, they’re 5/1 to win Super Bowl XLV and are currently 3-point underdogs at home this Sunday against the Packers. Chicago beat the Seahawks last Sunday to advance to the conference title game.
Not surprisingly, the Pittsburgh Steelers have the next best odds to win this year’s Super Bowl according to latest NFL future odds. They’re 2/1 to win the Lombardi Trophy, which isn’t a bad price for a team with as good as a defense as the Steelers have.
Of course, for as good as the Steelers’ defense is, the New York Jets’ D may be even better. According to oddsmakers, the Jets are 7/2 to win Super Bowl XLV after knocking off the Colts and Patriots over the last two weeks.
