The official told The Associated Press on Saturday the team is in ``discussions'' with Carroll but do not plan on giving him the dual title of president. The official added the Seahawks will hire a general manager and separately a coach. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the Seahawks are not commenting.
The Seahawks went 5-11 this season and fired coach Jim Mora on Friday. Carroll coached the Jets and Patriots in the NFL. He spent nine years coaching Southern California.
ESPN said Carroll reached a coaching agreement. The Los Angeles Times reported Carroll also will be team president.
