SUZUKA CITY, Japan (TheSpread) – The 2012 Formula 1 season returns to action on Sunday with the running of the Japanese Grand Prix from the Suzuka Circuit.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Lewis Hamilton is favored to win, as he has 9/4 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Sebastian Vettel (7/2), Fernando Alonso (11/2) and Kimi Raikkonen (11/2).

Hamilton was the 2007 winner of this event. Hamilton is currently fourth in the point standings. He trails Alonso for first by 52 points. Hamilton has three wins and seven top 5’s on the year.

Vettel won this race in 2010 and 2009. Vettel is second in the point standings, 29 points out of first. Vettel has two wins and 10 top 5’s on the year.

Alonso won this race in 2008 and 2006. Alonso is leading the point standings thanks to three wins and 11 top 5’s this year.
