Kampmann vs. Daley
A main card bout set for UFC 103 on Saturday night is between welterweights Martin Kampmann and Paul Daley.
Martin Kampmann (15-2):
Strengths:
Weaknesses: Kampmann was bullied in his last loss to Nate Marquardt, but no many have been able to be successful against him. Kampmann is coming off a tough decision win over Carlos Condit where he struggled to get into a grove. If Kampmann wants to be a championship contender, he needs to have a dominant win over Daley.
Last Five Fights:
Split decision win over Carlos Condit at UFC Fight Night 18 on April 1, 2009
Second round TKO win over Alexandre Barros at UFC 93 on Jan. 17, 2009
First round TKO loss to Nate Marquardt at UFC 88 on Sept. 6, 2008
First round submission win over Jorge Rivera at UFC 85 on June 7, 2008
First round submission win over Drew McFedries at UFC 68 on March 3, 2007
Paul Daley (21-8-2)
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Last Five Fights:
First round TKO win over Junior Barata at WFC 8 on April 18, 2009
First round KO win over Aurelijus Kerpe at Ultimate Gladiators on March 29, 2009
Unanimous decision loss to Nick Thompson at MFC 20 on Feb. 20, 2009
Second round TKO win over John Alessio at MFC 19 on Dec. 5, 2008
Second round submission loss to Jake Shields at EliteXC Heat on Oct. 4, 2008
Who will win: Daley could win if the fight ends early, but like Mike Tyson in his day, Daley fades after the first round because he tries so hard to end the fight early. I see Kampann surviving the early storm and defeating Daley by submission with a choke or by TKO late in round two to continue moving up the welterweight ladder.
