Oddsmakers have listed Williams with 1/1 odds to win the title, making her the clear favorites. Other short odds to win are Victoria Azarenka (5/1) and Maria Sharapova (6/1).

Williams is coming off a win in Wimbledon and an Olympic Gold Medal over the last few months, dominating both tournaments. She has won the U.S. Open three times and finished second last year. She has a total of 14 grand slam events.

Azarenka has never won this event or gotten past the fourth round. She did win the 2012 Australian Open for her first grand slam title.

Sharapova won this event back in 2006, but has failed to make it to the quarterfinals since. She has won a total of four grand slam events in her career and reached the finals in three of the last five grand slam events.

The 2012 U.S. Open Championships take place from August 27 to September 9 from the Flushing Meadows in New York City. For complete odds to win the women’s singles title, see below.
