Can the United States repeat as gold medal winners at the Rio Summer Olympics in Women’s Gymnastics? Here is a look at the odds.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the USA is the clear favorite to win the gold, as it has -1000 odds. Other short odds to win are China (+700) and Russia (+1200). The Rio Olympics continue today through August 21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The United States features the top three favorites to win gold in the individual all-around competition in Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman. The US won the gold in 2012 and a pair of those competitors are back this year. They also have won the 2014 and 2015 World Champions.
China finished fourth at the 2012 Olympics, but won gold at the 2008 games. The team has the top non-American favorite to win the all-around competition in Shang Chunsong.
Russia won the silver medal at the 2012 Olympics, but is seeking its first gold medal since disbanding from the USSR. They were fourth in the 2015 World Championships and third at the 2014 competition.
