PGA Championship Information:

The PGA Championship follows The Masters, the U.S. Open and The Open Championship as the fourth and final men’s golf tournament of the season. The PGA Championship is played annually in august, with the winners of the tournament automatically get invited to play in the other three majors.

The first PGA Championship took place at the Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, New York in 1916 and was won by Jim Barnes, who received a money prize of $500. In comparison, the 2007 winner, Tiger Woods, earned a whopping $1.26 million for winning the most recent PGA Championship.

Speaking of Woods, he’s won the PGA Championship four times: 1999, 2000, 2006 and 2007. But he’s not the top multi-PGA Championship winner. That feat belongs to two golfers: Walter Hagen (1921, 1924, 1925, 1926, 1927) and “The Golden Bear” Jack Nicklaus (1963, 1971, 1973, 1975, 1980).

2007 PGA Open Results and Payouts

1. Tiger Woods, United States, 272 (-8), $1,260,000 Winnings (9/4 odds to win)

2. Woody Austin, United States, 274 (-6), $756,000 Winnings (N/A)

3. Ernie Els, South Africa, 275 (-5), $476,000 Winnings (20/1 odds to win)

4. John Senden, Australia, 279 (-1), $308,000 Winnings (N/A)
