There are a total of 16 events in this category at the Olympics. Of the 16 events, 12 have odds listed. According to oddsmakers, Germany is the favorite to take home the most gold, as they are favored in 6 of the 12 events listed, including most of the team categories. Hungary is favored in 3 events.

In Olympic history, Germany has won a total of 25 gold medals and 55 overall medals, both rank second in Olympic canoeing history. The Soviet Union won a total of 29 gold medals before disbanding. Hungary has won the most overall medals, as they have claimed 71 total medals, including 15 golds.

The United States has never done well in this sport, winning just 16 total medals and five golds in Olympic history. Even for this year, the U.S. doesn’t have a single competitor listed among the odds for each available event.
