Olympic Beach Volleyball Odds


LONDON, England (TheSpread) – Beach Volleyball is a sports growing in popularity. Here is a look at the odds to win gold in this event at the 2012 Olympics.

In the Men’s competition the Brazilian team of Alison Cerutti and Emanuel Rego are favored to win gold, as they have 9/4 odds to win, while the American duo of Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser have 3/1 odds to win.

Cerutti and Rego won the 2011 World Championship and Pan American Games in beach volleyball. Rogers and Dalhausser won the gold medal in the 2008 games. They also were the 2007 World Champions but came up in third in 2009 and failed to make it out of the round of 16 in the 2011 World Championships.

In the Women’s event, the Brazilian duo of Larissa Franca and Juliana Felisberta Silva are favored to win gold, as they have 5/2 odds for the event, while the American duo of Misty May Treanor and Kerri Walsh have 7/2 odds.

Franca and Silva are the current World Champions, defeating Treanor and Walsh in the finals in a competitive three-set match. These two also took second in the 2009 World Championships and won the 2011 Pan American Games. Treanor and Walsh have won the gold in the last two Olympic Games and also have won three World Championships, but they have not won on the world stage since the 2008 Olympics.
