Olympic Women's Volleyball Odds
LONDON, England (TheSpread) – Women’s Volleyball has three teams that seem to have a real shot at gold in the 2012 Olympics. Here is a look at the odds to win this event.
According to oddsmakers, Brazil is the favorite in this event, as it has odds of 13/8 odds. Other short odds to win are the USA (15/8), Russia (3/1), and Italy (9/1).
Brazil is the defending Olympic gold medal winner. It was the first time Brazil won gold in this event. Brazil won the 2011 Pan American Games gold medal and the silver medal in the 2010 World Championships.
The United States won the silver in 2008 and has never won the Olympic gold for women’s volleyball. The U.S. has won the gold in the last three World Grand Prix and they also won silver in the 2011 World Cup.
Russia didn’t medal in 2008, but won the silver in 2000 and 2004. The former Soviet Union won the gold four times in this event. Russia won the gold in the 2010 World Championships
Italy has never medaled in women’s volleyball at the Olympic level. They are the 2011 World Cup champions and 2009 European champions.
