2008 Super Bowl Odds

The 2008-09 NFL Season is fast approaching and it’s time to check out some Super Bowl odds to win. Not surprisingly, oddsmakers from online sportsbook SBG Global have made the New England Patriots the favorites to win the 2008-09 Super Bowl after finishing the 2007-08 regular season undefeated.

What is rather surprising, however, are the odds placed on the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants. Oddsmakers have made the Giants +2000, which are worse odds than six other teams (Patriots +325, Dallas Cowboys +800, Indianapolis Colts +750, Green Bay Packers +1400, San Diego Chargers +700). Clearly oddsmakers don’t like the turmoil the Giants have faced this offseason, including tight end Jeremy Shockey and Plaxico Burress demanding new contracts. (Not too mention All-Pro Michael Strahan retiring.)

There are a couple of good value picks, including 2007 playoff teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars +2000, Pittsburgh Steelers +2000 and Seattle Seahawks +3500. With the addition of Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen, the Minnesota Vikings also appear to be a great value pick at +3000.

If you like high risks and high rewards, there are some long shots on the board as well, including the Oakland Raiders (+10000) and the Atlanta Falcons (+1500).
