Chile eliminated the defending champion Spain in its last match despite being outshot 15-7 and giving up 56% possession time to the defending champs. Chile was able to jump out quickly, scoring two goals in the first half with Eduardo Vargas and Charles Aranguiz each finding the net. Vargas also had a team-high two shots in the win.
