2014 Belmont Stakes odds matchup head to head props horse racing Triple Crown

ELMONT, NY (The Spread) - Will California Chrome beat Wicked Strong in the 2014 Belmont Stakes? Here are head-to-head matchup odds for tonight's race.

Oddsmakers from online sports book have listed head-to-head matchup prop odds for some of the contenders in today's Belmont, including for Triple Crown contender California Chrome. If you place any wagers on these matchup odds, all the horse has to do is beat his opponent for you to collect. He does not have to win the race in order for you to win.

For example, California Chrome is favored at 20/43 to finish ahead of Wicked Strong, who is a 7/4 underdog in this prop wager. If California Chrome finishes fourth and Wicked Strong finishes fifth, you would win that prop bet despite California Chrome not winning (or even finishing in the money) the Belmont. That's how all the odds in this article work.

California Chrome is also a 1/3 favorite to finish ahead of Ride On Curlin, who is a 12/5 underdog after finishing second to Chrome in the Preakness Stakes earlier this year. California Chrome is also listed as a 4/13 favorite over Tonalist, who is 5/2, and a 4/13 favorite to finish ahead of Commanding Curve, who is 5/2 and finished second to Chrome in the Kentucky Derby.

Wicked Strong and Ride On Curlin are two contenders that many expect to either challenge California Chrome today or flat out ruin his Triple Crown bid. Wicked Strong is a 5/8 favorite to beat Ride On Curlin, who is a 13/10 underdog, and a 5/8 favorite to beat Tonalist, who is 13/10. Wicked Strong is also 20/33 to beat Commanding Curve, who is a 27/20 underdog to upset Wicked Strong.

Ride On Curlin, meanwhile, is favored at 6/5 to beat Tonalist at 2/3. Ride On Curlin and Commanding Curve have both been listed at 20/23 to beat each other, respectively, while Tonalist is a 20/27 favorite to finish ahead of Commanding Curve, who is 21/20.

Continuing with these matchup odds, Medal Count is 31/20 to beat Tonalist, who is 10/19, and is 6/5 to beat Commanding Curve, who is 2/3. Medal Count is also even at 1/1 to finish ahead of Samraat, who is 10/13. Oddsmakers don't even Medal Count much of a chance to finish ahead of Ride On Curlin, who is 10/13 to beat Medal Count at 1/1.

Matterhorn and Matuszak are the two long shots to win the Belmont Stakes and have also been pitted against each other with head-to-head odds. Matterhorn is currently 4/7 to finish ahead of Matuszak, who is 29/20. Mattherhorn is also 27/20 to beat Commissioner, who is 20/33, and is 7/4 to beat Samraat, who is 20/43. Speaking of Samraat, he is 2/3 to beat General A Rod (6/5) and is 1/1 to beat Ride On Curlin (10/13).

Finally, Matuszak is 27/20 to beat Commissioner (20/33), while Commissioner is 6/5 to beat General A Rod (2/3). Matterhorn is also 29/20 to finish ahead of General A Rod, who is 4/7.

The 2014 Belmont Stakes will take place tonight at 6:30PM ET from Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. The track record belongs to Secretariat at 2:24 in 1973.
