Wicked Strong Betting Preview
ELMONT PARK, NY (The Spread) – After a finishing just out of the money in the Kentucky Derby, Wicked Strong looks to crack the top 3 this Saturday in the 2014 Belmont Stakes.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Wicked Strong is 17/2 to win this weekend’s Belmont Stakes. California Chrome remains the favorite at 11/10, while Ride On Curlin is 11/2 and Commanding Curve and Tonalist are 15/2, respectively. Medal Count is also 16/1 while Social Inclusion is 20/1.
Wicked Strong finished fourth behind California Chrome, Commanding Curve and Danza in this year’s Kentucky Derby. He also won the Grade I Wood Memorial on April 5, finished ninth in the Grade III Holy Bull on January 25, and placed third in the Grade II Remsen on November 30 of last year.
Wicked Strong’s pedigree, which includes Hard Spun, is pretty strong. While he never won a leg of the Triple Crown, Hard Spun did place second in the 2007 Kentucky Derby, placed third in the Preakness Stakes that year, and finished fourth at the Belmont Stakes. He also won the Grade I King’s Bishop and the Grade II Kentucky Derby Classic Cup, while also placing second in the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Classic in 2007. Competing is in Wicked Strong’s blood and he should fare well in this weekend’s Belmont.
The 2014 Belmont Stakes will take place at 6:30PM ET this Saturday, June 7.
