Updated Nelson Odds
Sadly, Phil Mickelson has decided that he will withdraw from the 2009 HP Byron Nelson Championship this week after his wife Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Oddsmakers have updated the odds for the PGA event and have made Ian Poulter the new favorite at 14/1 to win.
Bet the HP Byron Nelson Championship
When the odds opened for the HP Byron Nelson Championship, Phil Mickelson was a 7/1 favorite, while Ian Poulter was a mid-range 18/1 long shot. But with Mickelson withdrawing from play, oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM have made Poulter a 14/1 favorite.
Poulter, Justin Leonard (20/1), David Toms (20/1), Vijay Singh (22/1) and Charley Hoffman (22/1) round out the top five for the Nelson Championship. Anthony Kim at 33/1 and Davis Love III at 40/1 are two intriguing long shots for this weekend’s golf tournament.
With Mickelson and Tiger Woods out, Vijay Singh (No. 9) is the only golfer ranked in the Top 10 scheduled to appear this weekend. Singh recorded his first Top-10 finish of the season at The PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP when he finished tied for ninth. At 22/1 odds to win, Singh could be a nice value pick to win the Nelson Championship.
