Updated Preakness Odds
BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) - With less than six hours away, Orb remains favored to win the 2013 Preakness Stakes but his odds are starting to shift.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Orb is now 10/13 after he started the morning at 10/11. Departing still has the next best odds at 7/1 but Mylute's odds have shifted from 8/1 to 17/2. Goldencents remains 9/1 while Itsmyluckyday is still 10/1.
Governor Charlie opened the day at 10/1 but his odds have dropped to 12/1, while Will Take Charge remains 12/1 as well. The odds for Oxbow and Titletown Five remain the same, as Oxbow is 18/1 and Titletown Five remains a massive long shot at 33/1.
Orb won the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago and the next closet contender was Mylute, who finished fifth. Oxbow finished 6th, Will take Charge was 8th, and Itsmyluckyday took 15th. Goldencents, who many thought was a sleeper contender, finished a disappointing 17th.
On Wednesday the post positions were drawn for the 2013 Preakness Stakes and Orb drew the rail. Goldencents will start from the No. 2 gate while Titletown Five drew the No. 3 post. Departing will start in the No. 4 post, Mylute will start out of the No. 5 gate and Oxbow drew the No. 6 post. Will Take Charge (No. 7), Governor Charlie (No. 8) and Itsmyluckyday (No. 9) round out the rest of the field.
The 2013 Preakness Stakes will take place today, Saturday, May 18th, from Pimlico Racecourse in Baltimore, Maryland. Post time for the event is approximately 6:24PM ET.
