Will Take Charge Preakness Odds
BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) - The 2013 Preakness Stakes is just a day away and our daily look at the field leads us to mid-range long shot Will Take Charge.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Orb remains favored at 10/11 to win Saturday's Preakness Stakes. Departing and surprise riser Mylute have the next best odds at 13/2, respectively, while Goldencents is 8/1.
Continuing with the current odds, Governor Charlie and Itsmyluckyday are both 10/1, respectively, while Will take Charge is 12/1 and Oxbow is 16/1. The contender with the longest odds is Titletown Five, who did not run in this year's Kentucky Derby. He's currently 28/1.
Will Take Charge finished 8th at this year's Kentucky Derby, which was won by Orb over Golden Soul (second) and Revolutionary (third), among others. Will take Charge was also a long shot to win at Churchill Downs that day.
In his race history prior to the Kentucky Derby, Will Take Charge won the Grade II Rebel Stakes on March 16 and took sixth at the Grade III Southwest Stakes on February 18th. He won the Smarty Jones on January 21 and finished second at the Remington Springboard Mile on December 9. In his only other graded stakes race, he finished 13th at the Grade II Kentucky Jockey Club on November 24.
Will Take Charge is a 3-year-old colt who is owned by Willis D. Horton and trained by D. Wayne Lukas. He was bred in Kentucky by Eaton and his pedigree lists Unbridled's Song and Take Charge Lady by Dehere.
The 2013 Preakness Stakes will take place on Saturday, May 18 from Pimilico Racecourse in Baltimore, Maryland. The official post time is set for 6:24PM ET.
