Take The Points Update
Oddsmakers have released updated odds for the 134th running of the Preakness and Take The Points remains a long shot to win.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM have made Take The Points a 25/1 long shot to win the 2009 Preakness Stakes. The 3-year old colt opened as a 22/1 long shot, so clearly oddsmakers don’t think much of Take The Points’ chances to win.
Take The Points didn’t run in the Kentucky Derby, which leads many to doubt if he’s faced enough top competition to hang with the best of the best at the Preakness. He’ll have his hands full going against Rachael Alexandra (8/5), Pioneerof The Nile (5/1) and Mine that Bird (6/1).
However, even though Take The Points is a long shot, he’s run well in his last five races. He finished fourth at the Santa Anita Derby (April 4), second at the Sham (February 28), first at the Allowance (January 31), first at the Maiden Special Weight (September 27, 2008) at Belmont Park and second at the Maiden Special Weight (August 15, 2008) at Saratoga. So he has potential.
The 2009 Preakness Stakes takes place today at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. For complete odds see below, and for general information about this year’s race, be sure to check out our 2009 Preakness Stakes Viewing Guide.
