Pioneerof The Nile Update
Pioneerof The Nile’s odds for the 2009 Preakness have been steady as a rock since opening at 5/1 odds.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com listed Pioneerof The Nile’s opening odds at 5/1 and they haven’t wavered since. The 3-year old colt’s current odds are also currently 5/1.
One of the reasons Pioneerof The Nile’s odds have stayed consistent is because of his impressive showing at the Kentucky Derby. Despite a sloppy track at Churchill Downs, which should have hurt the fast thoroughbred, Pioneerof The Nile managed to rack up a second place showing. Thanks in large part to that performance, Pioneerof The Nile is one of the favorites to win this year’s Preakness Stakes.
Pioneerof the Nile will have to be on top of his game entering Saturday’s race at Pimlico Race Course, because 8/5 favorite Rachael Alexandra is expected to smoke the competition. Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird is also considered a mid-range favorite at 6/1.
The 2009 Preakness Stakes takes place today at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. For complete odds see below, and for general information about this year’s race, be sure to check out our 2009 Preakness Stakes Viewing Guide.
