Updated: Musket Man
There have been a lot of odds changes leading up to the 134th running of the Preakness Stakes, but one thing that has stayed the same has been the odds for potential sleeper Musket Man.
When oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL set the opening lines for the 2009 Preakness, Musket Man was a mid-range favorite at 11/2. His current odds haven’t shown much change, as they go from 11/2 to 10/1.
Entering the Kentucky Derby, Musket Man was a 25/1 long shot. But after finishing third at Churchill Downs, his odds understandably improved heading into the Preakness. At 10/1 odds to win, he’s a potential sleeper to challenge favorite Rachel Alexandra (8/5), Pioneerof The Nile (5/1) and Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird (4/1).
Musket Man has had a great seven-race stretch since October 25 of last year. He’s won five of his last seven races and placed third at the Kentucky Derby. The 3-year old colt’s best outing was at the Illinois Derby at Hawthorne on February 4, when he won by 1 1/8 miles.
The 2009 Preakness Stakes takes place today at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. For complete odds see below, and for general information about this year’s race, be sure to check out our 2009 Preakness Stakes Viewing Guide.
