Update: Flying Private
Heading into the 134th running of the Preakness Stakes, Flying Private remains a massive long shot to win at 50/1 odds.
When oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM released the opening odds for the 2009 Preakness, Flying Private was a midrange long shot at 16/1. But as the post time draws near, Flying Private’s odds are rising and have no reached 50/1.
Mine That Bird was a 50/1 long shot when he won the Kentucky Derby, so maybe Flying Private’s 50/1 odds will bring him some luck. Then again, he hasn’t run particularly well in his last two races, finishing 19th at the Kentucky Derby and fifth at the Arkansas Derby on February 11.
Flying Private joins Tone It Down (42/1), Terrain (30/1) and Take The Points (25/1) as the long shots entering the Preakness. They’ll have their hands full running against 8/5 favorite Rachael Alexandra, and 2009 Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird, who has short odds at 6/1 odds.
The 2009 Preakness Stakes takes place today at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. For complete odds see below, and for general information about this year’s race, be sure to check out our 2009 Preakness Stakes Viewing Guide.
