Ride On Curlin Preakness Odds
BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) - The 2014 Preakness Stakes is just two days away and with that, let's take a look at contender Ride On Curlin.
Ride On Curlin finished a disappointing seventh in the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago but his history previous to that start was solid. He placed second in the Arkansas Derby on April 12 and third in the Rebel Stakes on March 15. He also placed third in the Southwest Stakes on February 17 and won an Allowance on January 12.
But that seventh-place finish at Churchill Downs hurt Ride On Curlin's odds heading into the Preakness Stakes. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Ride On Curlin is 12/1 to win this weekend's Preakness, putting him in the top 4 in terms of odds, but outside the true favorites. California Chrome remains the favorite at 5/8, while Social Inclusion has the next-best odds at 6/1 and Bayern is 11/1.
Ride On Curlin also drew a poor post position on Wednesday as he'll start all the way from the outside at the No. 10 gate. In the past 30 years (since 1984), the No. 10 post has produced just one winner in 18 starts. He has his work cut out for him this weekend.
The 2014 Preakness Stakes will take place on Saturday, May 17 at 6:20PM ET (post time).
