Governor Charlie Preakness Odds
BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) - The 2013 Preakness Stakes is this weekend and contender Governor Charlie remains one of the long shots to win.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Governor Charlie is 20/1 to win the Preakness Stakes. Orb is the current favorite at 11/10 while Departing has the next best odds at 4/1. Orb won the Kentucky Derby less than two weeks ago and Departing, despite not contending at Churchill Downs, is as serious threat to win at Pimlico this weekend.
Governor Charlie has only raced three times in his career dating back to January 19, but his race history is impressive. He won the Grade III Sunland Derby on March 24 and also emerged victorious at a Maiden Special Weight on February 17. In his other start, he placed second at a Maiden Special Weight back in January.
Michael E. Pegram owns Governor Charlie and Bob Baffert is his trainer. He was bred in Kentucky by Mike Pegram and his pedigree is Midnight Lute and Silverbulletway by Storm Cat.
Continuing with the current Preakness odds, Itsmyluckyday is 6/1, Goldencents is 7/1, and Will Take Charge and Mylute are 12/1, respectively. Oxbow is a long shot at 20/1, although Titletown Five has the longest odds at 30/1.
The 2013 Preakness Stakes is this Saturday, May 18 at 6:24PM ET (Post Time). The event will take place at the Pimlico Racecourse in Baltimore, Maryland.
