Dynamic Impact Preakness Odds
BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) – Will Dynamic Impact be one of the sleepers this weekend in the 2014 Preakness Stakes? Let’s check out his odds.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Dynamic Impact is 16/1 to win this weekend’s Preakness Stakes. California Chrome remains the favorite at 5/8, while Social Inclusion is 6/1 and Bayern and Ride on Curlin are 12/1, respectively. Kid Cruz, meanwhile, is 14/1 while General A Rod is 20/1 and both Pablo Del Monte and Ring Weekend are 25/1, respectively. The contender with the longest odds is Ria Antonia, who is a 33/1 long shot.
Dynamic Impact has posted back-to-back victories in his last three starts, including a first-place finish at the Illinois Derby on April 19. His other five career starts came in MSWs, where he finished fourth, second, sixth, second and first over the range of six months.
One reason why Dynamic Impact could be a sleeper this weekend is the fact that he’s improved over his last three races. Since finishing sixth at the MSW on November 16, he took second and then put together those back-to-back wins. And for him to win his first start on a 1 1/8-mile track (his longest of his career), that’s a positive sign.
But here’s the problem: The Illinois Derby was the only graded stakes race that he’s competed in, and that was a Grade III event. How can bettors have any idea how good this horse really is when he hasn’t faced the level of competition as the favorites? The results have been good, but he’s the ultimate wildcard heading into this weekend.
The 2014 Preakness Stakes will take place Saturday, May 17 at 6:20PM ET (post time).
