Orb's Preakness Stakes Odds
BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) - With the 2013 Preakness Stakes coming up on Saturday, the focus remains on Kentucky Derby winner and Triple Crown contender Orb.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Orb is favored to win the Preakness Stakes at 7/5, while Departing is 7/2 and Goldencents is 7/1. Itsmyluckyday is 9/1, Mylute and Will take Charge are both 12/1, respectively, while Vyjack is 15/1. Governor Charlie and Oxbow are both 20/1, respectively, while Titletown Five has the longest odds at 30/1.
Oddsmakers have also released prop odds surrounding Orb, such as "Will Orb win the Triple Crown?" The odds for "Yes" are +250 while the odds for "No" are -400.
"Will Orb win the Preakness Stakes?" The odds for "Yes" are Even while the odds for "No" are -140. Finally, "Will Orb Finish in the Top 3 at the Preakness Stakes," the odds for "Yes" are -400 while the odds for "No" are +250.
Orb hasn't lost a start since November 10 of last year when he placed fourth at a Maiden Special Weight at Aqueduct. Since then he's won five straight races, including the Kentucky Derby on May 4. He also placed first at the Grade I Florida Derby on March 30 and at the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth.
Claude R. "Shug" McGaughey III is Orb's trainer and Joel Rasario will be his jockey for the Kentucky Derby. Rosario made his first appearance in the 2010 Kentucky Derby aboard Make Music for Me, who finished fourth. Rosario also wont he Dubai World Cup aboard Animal Kingdom, who also won the 2011 Kentucky Derby.
The 2013 Preakness Stakes is this Saturday at 6:24PM ET (post time) from Pimlico Racecourse in Baltimore, Maryland.
