Dortmund 11/2 to win Preakness
PIMLICO, BALTIMORE (The Spread) – Following a third-place finish in the Kentucky Derby, Dortmund is listed among the legit contenders to win Saturday’s Preakness Stakes.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Dortmund is 11/2 to win the Preakness Stakes, which puts him behind only American Pharoah (who is a 5/6 favorite) and Firing Line (5/1). Carpe Diem and Materiality, meanwhile, are 14/1, respectively.
Dortmund finished in the money two weeks ago in the Kentucky Derby by placing third, although given how he set the pace early, the finish was a bit of a disappointment. Both American Pharoah and Firing Line caught Dortmund down the stretch to finish first and second, respectively
The Derby was the first time Dortmund didn’t finish first in his career. He had six consecutive victories heading into Churchill Downs, including wins in the Robert B. Lewis, the San Felipe Stakes and the Santa Anita Derby.
