When oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com released the Kentucky Derby odds on Monday, Midnight Interlude was +2000. But since then, his odds dropped to +1400 when the post positions were drawn on Wednesday and now he’s +1200 on the ML.
One of the reasons why Midnight Interlude may be attractive to bettors is because he appears to be improving monthly. He’s coming off an impressive showing at the Santa Anita Derby (Grade 1), one in which he took first place by beating fellow Kentucky Derby contender Comma To The Top. He also finished first at a MSW on March 20 and second at a MSW on February 26. While he doesn’t have much experience against top competition, his win in the Santa Anita has certainly attracted some attention.
One of the problems, however, is that he drew the No. 15 post position, which has produced just three Kentucky Derby winners all-time. Of course, the No. 17 and No. 19 post positions have never won at the Kentucky Derby, so obviously Midnight Interlude’s draw could have been worse.
