Orb Updated Derby Odds
CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) - The 2013 Kentucky Derby odds haven't shifted that much, but Orb remains one of the favorites.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Orb is a co-favorite along with Verrazano at 9/2 odds, respectively. Orb and Verrazano have been the clear favorites all week, although Orb was briefly a the sole favorite on Friday morning at 4/1.
Orb also has the best odds to win the Triple Crown at 12/1, while Verrazano is 14/1. Revolutionary and Rick Pitino's horse Goldencents are both 25/1, respectively, to win the Triple Crown. Revolutionary is also 7/1 to win the Kentucky Derby while Goldencents is 8/1.
Orb has had a tremendous amount of recent success, winning four straight races from November 24 of last year to March 30 of this year. He won a MSW in November, an Allowance in January, the Grade II Fountain of Youth in February and the Grade 1 Florida Derby, beating out fellow 2013 Kentucky Derby contender Itsmyluckyday.
Claude R. "Shug" McGaughey III is Orb's trainer and Joel Rasario will be his jockey for the Kentucky Derby. Rosario made his first appearance in the 2010 Kentucky Derby aboard Make Music for Me, who finished fourth. Rosario also wont he Dubai World Cup aboard Animal Kingdom, who also won the 2011 Kentucky Derby.
The 2013 Kentucky Derby will start today at 6:24PM ET (Post Time) from Churchill Downs.
