Will Take Charge Derby Odds
CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) - Will Take Charge has been impressive in recent races but one key trend could kill his chances to win the 2013 Kentucky Derby.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Will Take Charge is a 25/1 long shot to win this weekend. Orb is the current favorite at 17/4, while Verrazano has comparable odds at 9/2. Revolutionary is 7/1, Normandy Invasion is 10/1, and Overanalyze is 14/1. Both Java's War and Vykack are 18/1, respectively.
Will Take Charge won his most recent race, which came on March 16 at the Grade II Rebel Stakes. He also took fist at the Smarty Jones on January 21 but finished sixth at the Grade III Southwest Stakes on February 18. His only other graded stakes race came in the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club on November 24 in which he finished 13th.
D. Wayne Lukas is Will Take Charge's trainer and Jon Court is his jockey. Lukas is a four-time Kentucky Derby winner and a four-time Eclipse Award winner, while Court has notched over 3,000 career victories and has won riding tiles at Oaklawn Park, Hoosier Park and Ellis Park.
The 2013 Kentucky Derby will take place on Saturday, May 4 at 6:24PM ET (Post Time) from Churchill Downs.
