Dullahan Derby Preview & Odds
LOUISVILLE, KY (The Spread) – According to oddsmakers, Dullahan should be in the mix this Saturday when the 2012 Kentucky Derby runs at Churchill Downs.
Oddsmakers currently list Bodemeister and Union Rags as 7/2 favorites to win the Kentucky Derby, respectively, but Gemologist has the next best odds at 7/1 and Dullahan is listed right behind them at 8/1.
When you check out Dullahan’s previous race history, you understand why he’s included among the favorites. In eight career races dating back to June of last year, he’s never finished lower than fifth and has placed first, second or third in six of is eight outings. He won the Grade I Blue Grass on April 14 of this year and placed second at the Grade 3 Palm Beach on March 11. His only other victory came at the Grade I Breeders’ Futurity on October 8 of last year.

Donegal Racing owns Dullahan while Dale Romans is his trainer and Kent Desormeaux is his jockey. Desormeaux has won the Kentucky Derby three times, which includes guiding Real Quiet (1998), Fusaichi Pegasus (2000) and Big Brown (2008) to victories at Churchill Downs. You would have to imagine that Desormeaux and Dullahan will at least be in the running down the stretch at this year’s Kentucky Derby.
