CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) - After collecting a victory in his most recent outing, 2013 Kentucky Derby contender Revolutionary will look to finish ahead of the field this Saturday at Churchill Downs.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Revolutionary is currently 7/1 to win the 2013 Kentucky Derby, giving him the same odds as fellow contender Goldencents, who won the Santa Anita Derby in his last outing. Verrazano, who is a 7/2 favorite, and Orb, who has odds of 5/1, are the currently front-runners to win this Saturday.
Revolutionary is coming off a victory at the Grade II Louisiana Derby on March 30 at Fair Grounds and also won the Grade III Withers at Aqueduct on February 2, 2013. He also won at Aqueduct on December 28, 2012, and placed third behind Orb and Freedom Child on November 24.
Revolutionary is trained by Todd Pletcher, who won the 2010 Kentucky Derby with Super Saver and who also led all trainers in monies won in 2011 with a stable complete with Stay Thirsty and Awesome Maria. Revolutionary will be ridden by jockey Calvin Borel, who won his first career Kentucky Derby in 2007 on Street Sense and followed that up two years later riding 50/1 long shot Mine That Bird to victory in the 2009 Derby. In 2010 he also won aboard Super Saver.
