Kentucky-MSU Trends
The Kentucky Wildcats have a very interesting ATS trend going as they play the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Tuesday night. Here’s the latest from BroburySports.com.
Bet Kentucky vs. Mississippi State
No. 2 Kentucky is a three-point road favorite at BroburySports. The game is on ESPN at 9 pm ET, after No. 11 Michigan State (-10 ½) at Indiana.
Kentucky (24-1 SU, 12-11 ATS) has alternated between ‘covers’ and non ‘covers’ for the last 11 games. A 73-62 home win over Tennessee was their last game on Saturday night. Kentucky was successful as 9 ½-point favorites.
The Wildcats got a monster game from freshman John Wall. He had 24 points and was aided by 16 from backcourt mate Eric Bledsoe. Another freshman, DeMarcus Cousins had only five points down low. NBA scouts are looking for consistency from Cousins as he tries to be a high number one pick.
Coach John Calipari’s team now heads on the road where they’re 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS in the SEC. The SU loss was against South Carolina that dropped them from No. 1.
Kentucky put the screws to LSU in their last road game (81-55), and hope to make another statement tonight despite the trend predicting an ATS loss.
Statement game for Mississippi State
Mississippi State (18-7 SU, 11-8-1 ATS) is 5-0 SU at home in the SEC and 2-2-1 ATS. They were very lucky to ‘push’ against Auburn last game, winning in overtime 85-75 as 10-point favorites.
The Bulldogs average 73.3 PPG this season, exactly eight points less than Kentucky (81.3 PPG). They have a balanced offensive attack with four players averaging between 11.4 and 13.7 PPG.
Mississippi State leads the conference in defense (62.6 PPG). They take a ton of three-pointers and knock down a lot of them (36.5 percent). Senior forward Jarvis Varnado leads the SEC in rebounding (11.3), just ahead of Cousins. He’s also one of the best shot blockers in the country.
MSU can win this game if they shoot well and don’t get dominated underneath.
Mississippi State has won the last three meetings between the teams. The underdog is 4-0 in the last four, with MSU ‘covering’ three of them.
