Album of the Year Odds
LOS ANGELES, CA (The Spread) – The Album of the Year is the biggest award at the 2013 Grammy Awards. Here is a look at the odds to take home this year’s honor.
The Grammys take place this Sunday at 8PM ET and will air live on CBS. According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, there are only two solid candidates to win Album of the Year. The favorite is Mumford and Sons, who have odds of -250 to win for their album “Babel.” The other nominee with short odds is The Black Keys, who have odds of +250 for their album “El Camino.”
Mumford and Sons is seeking its first Grammy Award. The band is up for six Grammys this year. They were up for Record of the Year last year, but this is their first nomination for Album of the Year. Babel was released on Sept. 21 of 2012. It hit the top of the U.S. Billboard charts and finished as the seventh-highest selling album of the year.
The Black Keys have won three Grammys prior, all coming in 2011 in the rock and alternative categories. This is the first time they have been nominated for Album of the Year. El Camino was released on Dec. 6 of 2011. It peaked at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Charts and was the 10th-best selling album of 2012 in the U.S. The album had two different singles hit the No. 1 spot on the U.S. Alternative Singles Charts.
