2012 Oscars Opening Odds

LOS ANGELES, CA (TheSpread) – The nominees for the 2012 Oscars were announced on Tuesday morning. Here is a look at the opening odds for the four major categories.

The Oscars will be held on Sunday, Feb. 26. They are handed out each year to the best in cinema and film from 2011.

This year, the film with the most nominees is “Hugo”, which has 11 nominations, including for Best Picture and Best Director for Martin Scorsese.

In Best Picture, The Artist is the favorite to win with odds of 2/7. Hugo is listed with odds of 10/1 according to oddsmakers while The Descendents has 7/2 odds to win. There are nine films up for best picture.

In Best Director, Michel Hazanavicius is the favorite according to oddsmakers for The Artist. He has a money line of -175 to win while Scorsese has odds of +175 to win.

In Best Actor, George Clooney (The Descendants) is the favorite to win with 1/3 odds while Meryl Streep (The Iron Lady) is the favorite in the Best Actress category with 1/2 odds to win.
