The Oscars Best Actress Odds
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – The odds to win Best Actress at this year’s Oscars are out and Cate Blanchett is the clear favorite for her work on Blue Jasmine.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Blanchett is favored to win Best Actress at this year’s Oscars at 1/8, while Sandra Bullock has the next-best odds at 8/1 for her role in “Gravity.” Amy Adams of “American Hustle” is 10/1 to win Best Actress, while Judi Dench of “Philomena” is 22/1 while Meryl Streep is 33/1 of “August: Osage County.”
Blanchett has been nominated for many Oscars before, including in 2008 for her role in “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” and “I’m Not There.” In 2007 she was nominated for best Actress in a Supporting Role for her film “Notes on a Scandal,” and in 2005 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in “The Aviator.” She was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for “Elizabeth” in 1999.
Bullock won an Oscar in 2010 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for “The Blind Side” while Adams has been nominated for several Academy Awards including Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in “The Master,” “The Fighter,” “Doubt” and “Junebug.” Dench has also been nominated for her roles in “Notes on a Scandal,” “Mrs. Henderson Presents,” “Iris,” “Chocolat” and “Mrs Brown,” and has won for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in “Shakespeare in Love.”
Streep is on another universe when it comes to her Academy Awards nominations. She won an Oscar in 2012 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in “The Iron Lady” and also won for Best Actress in a Support Role for “Kramer vs. Kramer” in 1980. Among her other nominations were roles in “Julie & Julia,” in 2009, “Doubt” in 2009, “The Devil Wears Prada,” in 2007 and “Adaptation” in 2003, among others.
