Best Actress-Drama Odds
BEVERLY HILLS, CA (TheSpread) – The Best Actress-Drama category at the 2013 Golden Globes isn’t quite a runaway category. Here is a look at the odds to win this award.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the somewhat large favorite to win is Jessica Chastain, who has odds of -800 to win for her role in Zero Dark Thirty. The two others with somewhat reasonable odds are Marion Cotillard (+800) for her role in Rust and Bone, and Naomi Watts (+1000) for her role in The Impossible.
Chastain has the lead role in Zero Dark Thirty, a movie about the manhunt for Osama bin Laden. Her character, Maya, is a CIA office that has been focused on finding bin Laden and Al-Qaeda. She was nominated last year in a supporting role for The Help. This would be her first Golden Globe if she is to win.
Cotillard is nominated for Rust and Bone, an international film that has her playing a killer whale trainer who suffers an accident and loses her legs. She developed a relationship with a bouncer turned kick boxer. She has already won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for her role in the 2007 movie, La Vie en Rose. She was also nominated for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her role in, Nine, back in 2009.
Watts plays Maria Bennett in The Impossible. It is a film about a family that visits Thailand only to be caught up in a disastrous tsunami that separates the family. This is her first Golden Globe nomination despite being up for Best Actress at the Oscars for her previous work.
The 2013 Golden Globes will be held Sunday, January 13 from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, and air live on NBC at 8PM ET.
