Wade Redden added a goal and assist for the Senators, who scored three times in the second period.
Antoine Vermette, Mike Fisher and Daniel Alfredsson also scored for Ottawa, which has won two straight and eight of its last 10.
Jochen Hecht, Brian Campbell and Adam Mair scored for Buffalo, which had its season-high six-game winning streak snapped while losing for just the fifth time in the last 18 games.
Sabres goalie Ryan Miller made 19 saves in his ninth straight start.
Capitals 3, Lightning 2
WASHINGTON (AP) - Hours after Bruce Boudreau formally got the job he coveted, the Capitals marked the occasion with a feel-good victory.
Matt Bradley scored the tiebreaking goal with 2:53 left, and Washington ended a three-game skid by beating Tampa Bay.
David Steckel had a goal and two assists for the Capitals, who earlier in the day learned that the team removed the ``interim'' tag from Boudreau's title. Washington improved to 8-5-3 under Boudreau, who took over for the fired Glen Hanlon on Thanksgiving.
Vincent Lecavalier scored both Tampa Bay goals. The Lightning have lost five of six and are an NHL-worst 3-13-1 on the road.
Islanders 4, Maple Leafs 3, OT
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Mike Comrie scored with 9.6 seconds left in overtime, Wade Dubielewicz made 22 saves in relief of injured Rick DiPietro and New York spoiled Jason Blake's return.
Blake spent parts of six seasons with the Islanders before signing with Toronto during the summer.
Comrie also scored in the first period, as did Andy Hilbert and Bill Guerin to stake DiPietro to a lead. But he didn't come out after intermission because of a knee injury sustained in pregame warmups.
Alex Steen and Mark Bell scored in the first period for Toronto, and Steen tied it at 3 in the third period. The Maple Leafs are 1-2-2 in their last five, all on the road.
Rangers 4, Hurricanes 2
NEW YORK (AP) - Jaromir Jagr scored twice to end a goal-scoring slump and Brendan Shanahan set up a pair of third-period power-play goals to help New York beat Carolina.
Chris Drury and Dan Girardi also scored for the Rangers, who snapped a three-game losing streak, winning for only the third time in the last 11 games.
Scott Walker and Eric Staal scored for Carolina, which had won 3-of-4.
Henrik Lundqvist finished with 20 saves.
Blue Jackets 2, Thrashers 0
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Pascal Leclaire made 21 saves for his league-leading seventh shutout and Columbus snapped Atlanta's four-game winning streak.
With Rick Nash out nursing a sore throat, Dan Fritsche and Jared Boll picked up the scoring for Columbus, which entered having tallied only four goals in the last four games, three of them losses.
Fritsche started the scoring with a power-play goal at 7:39 of the first period on a wrist shot down the right wing that snuck under the arm of goalie Kari Lehtonen. The man-advantage tally was only the Blue Jackets' sixth in their last 58 opportunities.
Boll made it 2-0 early in the second period with his fourth goal of the year.
