Patrik Elias and the New Jersey Devils left the Ottawa Senators in the dust.
On Friday night, the speedy Elias had two goals and two assists, and Scott Clemmensen made 24 saves in the Devils’ 5-1 home victory over the Senators.
“The team is playing well,” Elias said. “Sometimes you go through these streaks. We just have to keep it going. I’m having fun out there, making plays. When they go in, they go in. When they don’t, I’ll just keep working the same way.”
New Jersey has won 11 of its last 14 games, and Elias has 11 goals and 27 points in the last 15. The Czech left wing also extended his points streak to nine games and matched John MacLean’s team record with 169 multipoint games.
“He’s taken his game to a level that everybody would like to see,” Devils coach Brent Sutter said. “His work ethic has always been good. He’s moving his feet more. He’s doing things at top speed, and he’s reading situations so well.”

In Newark, N.J., Brian Gionta, Johnny Oduya and Travis Zajac also scored, and Zach Parise had four assists. Clemmensen, ably subbing for injured star Martin Brodeur, improved to 10-1-1 in his last 12 decisions.
“It was a good effort by everybody tonight,” Parise said. “It was one of those nights where I was putting pucks on sticks, and they were putting them in.”
Jarkko Ruutu had a short-handed goal for Ottawa, the Senators’ fifth goal in their last five games. Ottawa is 1-4-1 in its last six games.
“It’s about the attitude and having to work for everything we are going to get,” coach Craig Hartsburg said. “We worked harder tonight, but obviously, it’s not enough. We can’t accept it. We’ve got to keep pushing forward to get better.”
Blackhawks 3, Flames 2, OT
At Calgary, Alberta, defenseman Duncan Keith scored 23 seconds into overtime to give Chicago its sixth straight victory.
Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews set up the winning goal. Streaking into the Calgary end, Toews stepped around Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf and was hooked by Cory Sarich as he was about to shoot. With a delayed penalty coming up, Toews controlled the puck behind the net and sent it in front to Keith.
rick Kane and Dave Bolland also scored for Chicago, coming off a 9-2 victory in Edmonton on Tuesday night. Nikolai Khabibulin made 32 saves to improve to 10-1-4 this season and 20-5-2 in his career against Calgary.
Chicago (17-6-7) last had a six-game winning streak in 2001-02.

Ducks 3, Oilers 2, SO
At Edmonton, Alberta, Jonas Hiller matched the Anaheim record with 51 saves and turned aside three shootout tries.
Corey Perry scored in regulation and added the shootout winner in the Ducks’ first game on a five-game trip. Rob Niedermayer also scored to help the Ducks improve to 18-12-3. Kyle Brodziak and Eric Cole scored for Edmonton.
Anaheim star Teemu Selanne cut his left thigh in the first period when he took a hit along the boards by Denis Grebeshkov. Selanne had to be helped off the ice and did not return.
Sabres 5, Kings 0
At Buffalo, N.Y., Ryan Miller made 40 saves for his third shutout of the season and 10th of his career, and Derek Roy had a goal and two assists for Buffalo.
Drew Stafford had a goal and assist, and Adam Mair, Clarke MacArthur and Matt Ellis also scored to help the Sabres snap a two-game home losing streak.
Wild 4, Islanders 1
nnesota snap a six-game losing streak and extend New York’s losing streak to eight.
Stephane Veilleux, Mikko Koivu and Pierre-Marc Bouchard also scored for the Wild. Former Minnesota player Richard Park scored for the Islanders.
