VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -Anaheim Ducks forward Joffrey Lupul was scheduled to have surgery Thursday to repair a herniated disk in his back.
The 26-year-old Lupul, expected to miss six to eight weeks, experienced pain since the end of training camp, but started the season and had 10 goals and added four assists in 23 games. He missed seven games in late November, but played three in early December, scoring four goals, before sitting out again with numbness in his leg.
Lupul has 112 goals and 113 assists in 395 career games. He was selected by Anaheim seventh overall in the 2002 draft and started his career with the Ducks before being traded to Edmonton as part of a package for defenseman Chris Pronger in the 2006 offseason. Lupul was reacquired from Philadelphia – again in a deal that included Pronger – this past summer.
