BOSTON (AP) -Center Marc Savard is happy he has a chance to finish his career with the Boston Bruins.
The team\’s leading scorer the past three seasons signed a seven-year contract extension beginning next season worth an average of slightly more than $4 million per year.
Savard, 31, said Wednesday that the deal, announced on Tuesday, will enable him to stay with a contending team in a city that loves sports.
Savard led the Bruins with 25 goals and 63 assists last season but missed 15 games this season before returning from a broken foot. He had four goals and six assists in 11 games before Wednesday night\’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He joined the Bruins in 2006 as a free agent from the Atlanta Thrashers with a four-year, $20 million contract.
