OTTAWA (AP) -The Ottawa Senators acquired defenseman Drew Fata from the Phoenix Coyotes for forward Alexander Nikulin on Monday.
Fata has no points in seven games this season with Phoenix’s American Hockey League affiliate in San Antonio. The 25-year-old Fata, whose brother Rico also played in the NHL, had one assist in five games with the New York Islanders last season.
Drew Fata was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the third round of the 2001 draft.
Nikulin was Ottawa’s fourth-round pick in the 2004 draft. The 23-year-old center has two goals in five games with the AHL’s Binghamton Senators this season. He appeared in two games for the Senators last season but didn’t record a point.
