ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -Defenseman Tyler Sloan was sent back down to the minors by the Washington Capitals on Friday after he finally got a chance to play in the NHL.
Sloan returns to AHL club Hershey after four games with the Capitals, including one goal.
He was called up while defenseman Tom Poti was sidelined with a groin injury. But Poti returned to practice Thursday after missing two weeks.
After more than 400 games in the minor leagues, the 27-year-old Sloan made his NHL debut Oct. 21 against the Calgary Flames. During his third shift, he leveled Daymond Langkow with a clean bodycheck. Sloan was immediately tackled and pummeled by Calgary’s Rene Bourque, who was given 19 minutes in penalties.
Then, against the Dallas Stars on Saturday, Sloan scored his first NHL goal.
